The story
He went into the labyrinth with a sword and a ball of thread, and no promise that either would be enough. Fourteen young Athenians had gone in before him. None had come out.
The corridor turns, and something is already waiting at the end of it.
Ariadne gave him the thread, and that is the part people forget. Going in was the easy half. The maze was built so that whatever you did to the thing at its centre, you would never find your way back out.
